James Cameron is apparently making more Avatar movies.
Well it did make tons of money, being the highest grossing film in 2009, earning almost 3x the amount of the second highest. It made enough that if movies 2-4 cost the same amount as the first one did each (which they won't since filming concurrently reduces costs) they will basically have broken even, even if they never sold a single DVD of Avatar 1 (which they did) and not a single person goes to Avatar 2, 3, or 4. Regardless of how much people claim to like or don't like the film, Avatar 1 was literally the highest grossing film ever, and even after you adjust for inflation on past films only falls to second place (being beaten only by Gone With the Wind). Seriously, it was only $100,000 short of being worth more then all three Lord of the Rings films put together.

I kind of liked it when I saw it the first time.

Then again, I missed all the exposition and apparently accidentally left during several plot scenes.

What would the premise even be? Weird alien sex romcom?
The humans come back?
With more guns.

And blast the pesky aliens to high hell.

Then the movie turns into a post apocalyptic survival horror IN SPAAACE.

Humans be returning like

I would pay money for a 40 minute snuff film of that planet burning.

Star Wars and E.T still beat it with inflation.

I'm just stupid but what's wrong with Avatar exactly?

I liked it.

It's an okay movie. Some people just openly hate anything that's too popular; I like to think I only hate on things that are too popular for reasons I can't understand. I can see the appeal of Transformers, Avatar, and so on even though I don't really like them, but I don't like, say, World of Warcraft because it's extremely popular and I can't understand why (as in, it doesn't strike me as a particularly good game).

Yeah, the movie wasn't that bad, but the reasoning behind making sequels is mostly just $$$ which pisses many people off.

It was good to watch once. But after seeing it and having time to think about it I realized how incredibly derivative and pretentious it is. Now it grates on me.

I can think of one sensible reasoning for humans coming back.
"Fuck this, glass them."

Or,

"Fuck this, tanks and shit."
I eagerly await the actual premise.

Also Quaritch is returning because they cloned him so Colonel Badass is hunting Na'vi once again!

I've never seen Avatar so I feel ill-equipped to write a sub-title. Also, maybe it's time for an Avatar thread.
