I found the most incredible Minecraft fic ever and I'm going to try to post all of the first chapter. It is noteworthy because, for some reason, it is Minecraft. Even if it's... well... totally not, in any way?! Just read it, it's special.
Grand Junction, the name of the town is self explanatory. It's a cross roads of rails and connects transients from the southern wastelands to the eastern mountains, and allows access across the northwest deserts. It's not big on trade but huge for lodging and transport.
"What do you mean the Train is late?! You said that 3 days ago!"
"I'm sorry but it hasn't made its check point so it's delayed for an unknown reason, may I suggest taking the track to Alpine Hills instead and heading east from there?" The travel agent looked rather bewildered handling a very upset customer.
"Apparently you've never traveled there yourself. That route would take three times longer due to it going through Sheep country." She looked rather vexed.
"Again our apologies. We'll be sure to notify you when we have contact with the train. Do you have a mailing address?"
"I'm a visitor an urgent matter, my time is rather limited and it would be better spent going that route on foot!" She stormed off frustrated with what they called 'customer service'.
Outside the evening air was cool and crisp as the sun was settling down. Travel at night was more pleasant to a creature that dwells nocturnally. Unfortunately there are a lot of nocturnal creatures that are not pleasant to deal with.
"Gah…I hate this!" …………………………….. "I could travel by foot at day break…it may be harder to see but it's easier to fight crawlers when there isn't so many. Heh…funny, nighttime is even dangerous to nocturnals." She spoke to herself as no one was around to hear. Raising her arms to stretch she decided what was the best option to start a day anew and headed to the inn.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"That'll be 250" -she handed the transaction to the clerk at the inn- " fourth stay in a row?" the clerk was a heavyset bearded fellow that was well aged for many years.
"I've decided to go by foot, waiting for the train can not proceed like this."
"In a hurry? You've still got many years to live youngone"
"heh, if only you knew I've already outlived your lifetime. I envy your mortality sometimes"
The old man laughed. She had a glimpse of the past remembering him when he was as young as she appeared many years ago.
"The third room upstairs is vacant, you can go take that one."
"Thanks, sleep well" she gathered her belongings and headed to the room for some hours to kill with peace before travel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dawn couldn't come fast enough, she had spent the hours of the night pacing about in the room, looking out the window and flopping around on the bed. She took a peek at the mirror in the room seeing her reflection was rather more transparent then usual. Her pale complexion and deep red eyes made it apparent she was not of the living. She fixed her dark brown hair so it looked a bit styled and suitable to look like one of the daytime folk. " I probably should grab a bite soon, before I travel too far" she said to herself making a mental note. Something caught her eye in the reflection as she saw a orange fuzz ball sitting in a tree outside the window of the room. She turned around seeing the peeping tom perched on a tree limb, startled and started to climb down as he as caught red handed. However he was too slow as she opened the window.
"HEY! What do you think you're doing? Prying on people is very Rude!"
"Uhh…sorry, really sorry! I didn't …I wasn't…" he stuttered with his ears bent down. The young man was a Kahtite, feline anthromorphic beings that have animal like traits.
"Oh…so you weren't trying to take a peek at a woman now where you?" she said sarcastically followed up with yelling angrily "you Perv!"
"I'm not a pervert! ..I was sleeping up in the tree!"
With her keen eyes she saw he had Heterochromia NOTE: this is where I started laughing and couldn't stop, his left eye was green while his right was blue. But a large shuttering crack of wood distracted the both of them as the tree limb he was balancing his weight on was about to break. He tried to scrabble away but being a bit slow he fell with the branch down to the ground with a hard thud.
"Owwwww" he rubbed his back side.
"you ok down there?"
..." yeah"
"Good, you got 8 more lives then, don't be wasting them being stupid" She closed the window and gathered her belongings to leave the inn.

The Kahtite boy I kind of hope I haven't accidentally stumbled onto some well-established thing here was wadding in the shallow river waters with his pants rolled up to his knees. He was attempting to fish with is free hands, though not very successfully.
"Ma always said I wouldn't make as a fisherman. If I could just get one…please…" His stomach growled of hunger and scared away the nearby fish.
"I don't need you anyway!" He exclaimed frustrated splashing the water.
This caught the road traveler's attention, she recognized him as the peeping tom before. She said nothing but had a inkling to stick around for some free entertainment.
"common…so…close" he said with whispered breath. As he grasped his hands he caught the fish, excited he leaped for joy and came back down slipping on the rocks of the river bed falling into the water and loosing his catch. The poor Kahtite was soaked from ear to tail. The traveler chuckled.
"y'know it's much easier with a fishing pole and some bait."
He gave her an annoyed glance as he got up and took off his clothes to dry them on the river bank tree.
"I don't mean to give you a hard time fuzzy" she apologized.
There was a pause before he spoke "I should be used to it, it's a hard life for a homeless klutz"
"Ohh…you don't have two cents to your name do you? So that's why you where up in a tree, here I thought you where trying to live to save some shine"
There wasn't much said except for his ears being tilted down.
"Say, what's your name?" she asked inquisitively.
"it's Lane…Lane Nathen."
"Your kind isn't too native around here, where you out casted?"
"It was destroyed…burned to the ground, I'm one of the few that survived"
She looked shocked, knowing she wasn't good with conversation but this turned for the worst. She dug through her pack taking out some dried meat and handed it to him.
"here….my apologizes ..again"
Lane's ears peaked as he saw the gesture but more for the food. He carefully took his time approaching her and snatched it away and kept his distance from her. He sniffed it and opened his mouth about to eat but then stopped.
"you don't need this?"
"Wow, I thought you where going to ask if it was zombie flesh or poisoned first."
He didn't reply to that comment.
"No I don't eat much, you can have it. I keep it around to keep the wolves at bay"
Lane then took a bite finding out it was good he devoured what was given.
She sat and watched him along with the river.
"Where you headed?" he asked.
"East. To the mountains., you don't plan on following me are you?"
"I'm not a dog"
"I can see that, but I'm not looking for a Kaht for a pet" she got up and brushed herself off and started to leave. " Oh…wait.." she stopped herself and reached in her emerald pouch and took one out tossing it to Lane. He caught it before it landed in the water.
"Why the generosity?"
"Can't I repay that I feel bad? I rather leave with a good foot ahead of me" she said as she continued to leave the river.
"Thank you!" Lane yelled.

As dusk followed the traveler came across a small farm village, she proceeded with caution keeping her large hood down and walked along the growing shadows. Not finding an inn she came to the farmhouse instead and knocked on the door. A middle aged man, presumably his wife and two adult sons where inside.
"Can I help you?" he said gruffly.
"Could I bother you for shelter for the night?" she asked politely.
"We don't take to kindly to strange folk walking around at sun down"
She held up her bare hands in a gesture she was harmless.
"I understand, and I mean no thievery. I'm only asking for a favor. I'll be gone before sunrise."
There was a long pause of tension, and unfortunately she had strayed to long without substance. She grabbed her chest as her heart painfully skipped a beat. The two sons jumped to their feet and came to the door by their father.
"what'cha matter with you? Are you ill?" the one boy asked
She cursed under her breath as she regained her composure.
"I'm fine, just fatigued."
She decided to take a great risk and took off her hood and looked them in the eye looking for trust but unfortunately found hostility. The father and the one son pulled weapons on her. She stepped back and braced herself with her own weapon at hand.
"Get Out! Get Out of here!"
"She's one of those demons pa!"
"Allow me to leave without harm and I will. I will never come back, I promise on my word" she exclaimed.
"We don't trust your kind, or any of those Demons out there. You can go feast on them!"
The traveler continued to back away slowly watching their open door as she walked backwards for quite a while until she couldn't see light of the farmhouse insight.
"Just my luck. Puritans, they're annoying as ever" damn those puritans she placed her hood back over her head. " a tree doesn't sound like a bad Idea now, as long as it's not spider infested"
She continued down the road by herself as night continued to pass. The traveler came across a makeshift graveyard probably belonging to the people that lived before the farmstead. " dangerous…but cozy" she said to herself as she placed her belongings up in the tree about to climb up there herself before the smell of fire and the sound of running footsteps stopped her actions.
"There it is!"
The two sons came after her with intent to kill, though they where gravely mistaken who they where dealing with.
She made the same gesture of peace. "Please hear me out. I don't indeed to hurt you but I will if I have to"
"Silence you foul beast! We know what you are!"
"Let's take her head and make Pa proud!"
Over in some thrush the young Kahtite boy heard a commotion and peeked over to see what the hullabaloo was about. Seeing the traveler again, though seeing she was in trouble he carefully and quietly sneaked up to the fight that was about to happen.
The two sons rushed at her, she chose not to use a weapon.
"If you insist" she smirked and over took the first boy withdrawing his sword from his hand by smacking the back of his hand hard. She quickly darted to the other and side swiped a kick to his feet to trip his momentum. The two young men where greatly outnumbered by her speed. But they persisted to attack. The Kaht boy watched from a distanced amazed to see how one girl could take down two grown adults. She elbowed the one farmer son between the neck and shoulder making him pass out from the force of the attack. There was only the other one left to disarm. She was about to take the offensive but her limits stopped her, she fell to the ground.
"ahahhaha What's the matter? Tired already?" the son said overconfidently.
" no" she growled. " just thirsty" She lunged at his throat thrusting him down to the ground. The boy squeaked trying to yell or cry for help from the attack but to no one that could hear him. The Kahtite boy gasped as his mouth gaped open seeing such a sight, he'd never seen a Vampyre before, but he had heard about them and feared for his own life. She didn't finish the young man off, but she did put a dent to his physical state that would leave him stunned for a few days. As she released him and let him drop to the ground she wiped the blood on her sleeve and stood up.
"Honestly I'm too good to you two for trying to kill me. But I hope this will teach you a lesson." She grabbed her stuff from the tree and started to walk away and stopped. Lane froze thinking he was next to be slain.
"Come out Kaht, I don't intend to hurt you"
Being foolish as he was. He gave up and stood up from the thrush.
"are….are they dead?" he lightly whimpered.
She shook her head "no…just passed out, that one will be in bed for a few days, but they'll be fine"
"he's….not…going to turn…into.."
She lightly chuckled "oh heavens no…that takes a special kiss to the neck, I merely just…took a little of his stamina"
"oh…." Lane was still scared but had to ask. "What's your name? You didn't tell me"
"I am known by many names. But those that get to know me like to call me Inuebony"
