Wait, wait, wait.

How could the job that makes lots of money, and saves your soul, not be the job you love?

Unless you're some sort of supervillain who wants his soul impure, of course.

Well, for instance, I work in a hospital, which is probably pretty decent soul-wise, and pays pretty well, but the job is pretty much endless drudgery that just needs to be done in order to make sure the actual life-saving can get done.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

How would working at NASA be an awesome job? ???
I guess a lot of kids do dream of being an astronaut... I don't really get why, though.

I don't remember much of what I dreamt of doing with my life, but I was far more interested in exploring Earth than space.
Maybe that's partly because my father had travelled quite extensively and had a heap of great photos from his adventures...

Oh, I do remember a couple of more specific childhood 'dreams'- one was to become a postman, for some reason. And one time, driving along with my mother, I saw this beautiful old pub, pointed at it and declared, "I'm going to get drunk there when I grow up!" :P I still haven't completed that objective, actually... hmmmm.
Mostly I just wanted to be a knight. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

I'd love to be an astronaut, but I'm happy being part of the local building development design team.

I blame KSP.
KSP will re-initiate the space race. It is inevitable.

The dogs got into a serious fight today. Not sure what started it, but one of them was seriously hurt and wasn't able to stand afterwards(although him getting hurt on something may have been what started the fight). Luckily, what my stepdad thought was a shattered hip turned out to(hopefully) be just a pulled muscle, since 15 minutes later he was able get up the porch steps on his own and walked a bit over to his favorite spot after getting in the house. He didn't look like he was in much pain, either.

I would dispute that.

They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I told them I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard.
... Yes, the hugs are for everyone.  No stabbing, though.  Just hugs.

It's the spirit of adventure. The discovery of many things not commonly seen that are naturally occurring phenomena. Also you get to see the Earth from up there, and many other nice things.
