A very odd predicament
« on: June 20, 2010, 09:48:22 am »

Hi,
I am new here (and to Liberal Crime Squad) and I was wondering whether it is normal for a person to have a negative prison sentence remaining.
"[Name of Person] 25 FaceGone Prison -2 Months" is what shows up on the Liberals and the Justice System menu.  Is there something going on here that I don't know about, or is it a bug?

No, your liberals are willingly remaining incarcerated because they hate you.

I kid, I kid, that is most certainly a bug. I suggest a jailbreak.

Thanks for answering.  I noticed that after posting.  Any reason why the game does this?

It's a cheap way of getting the desired effect. Because there is no hard cap on aging (just random chance to lose health every day after age 70 - I think), they would have to implement a specific case somehow. Either a boolean flag or a special value are the best options, and by using a range of special values (< 0) they can now indicate how many consecutive life sentences they are supposed to be serving with little effort - just a check that the months remaining variable is positive before decrementing.

Everyone in this thread is correct. It is a bug, and the bug is that it's displaying negative months instead of being smart enough to say "Two consecutive life sentences".

Blizzard is managed by dark sorcerers, and probably have enough money to bail-out the federal government.
