https://github.com/calmhorizons/soundsense

Small fork of the SoundSense code if anyone is interested. I hope that is OK Petr. If not let me know and I'll pull it down - its basically some customisations of my own:

* Autoupdate code is gone
* Uses the Nimbus LnF
* Minimises to the system tray
* No console necessary

Hey guys, do you know where I can find this fork of soundsense now? I liked it a lot, especially the minimize in tray option...

@zwei - It's great that this has been migrated to Github, since Google Code is shutting down.  I also have a couple of other requests:

- Could existing and future releases be put on the Github releases page?  I (and others) can then download them automatically.
- The OP of this thread really needs an update, it's not great for users or potential contributors.

Do you mind also sharing your plans for any further development?  There's a fair bit upthread about adding positional stuff, using DFHack.  I'd also love to just get all the logging scripts into the standard DFHack distro, to make things easier for users.

Good news people!This still works without errors in the new version!

Now just imagine if soundsense supported sounds for performances and singing

How does one tell SS where the new version is? I'm a little derpy about these things...

I've been waiting for the new release to try something like this out, but more !SCIENCE! is needed and work's been crazy. Almost Christmas holidays though, might be able to squeeze it in.

- I will look into adding releases to github, it is definitelly "want to do"
- OP, of course will be updated

Future:

Well, I am kind of busy, but priorities for future development is:

1. Updating for new version of DF (lots of new sounds, some remakes). I would very much appreciate any and all gamelogs players can provide to get samples what appears for people with different playstyles.
2. Updating dfhack lua script with aditional messages and with anything that broke.
3. Bugfixes and quality of life features
4. New features (positional audio is semi-implemented, but needs to be put into dfhack script for example and rested)

5. Maybe tool to edit soundpacks without having to manually edit xmls.

So, that is the plan nowadays

Hi! I'm running df on a mac, and Fricy suggested I try out your android-based Dwarf Historian since I can't use Legends Viewer. I'm having some issues with it. Where do I report those?

Just thought I'd say that I am looking forward to what may come with Soundsense in the new DF version.  I've been using Soundsense for years - never really bothered to stop by and say it, but I really could not (and would not) play Dwarf Fortress without it, so thanks a million for all you've done.

These are my sentiments as well, thank you for the work on this utility! Also, these ideas for positional audio sound amazing!

I've been looking for a fix for this error for a couple hours now, has anyone else ever experienced this issue?

java.io.FileNameNotFoundException: C:Users\Username\Desktop\Dwarf Fortress <The system cannot find the file specified>
      at java.util.zip.ZipFile.open<Native Method>
      at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init><Unknown Source>
      at java... (etc, etc for about 8 more lines)

I have java updated to the newest version with all old installs killed.
Other utilities, like Dwarf Therapist, are working with the install.
If you need me to post more details to help determine the issue please let me know. I wasn't sure if the rest of the text was needed in determining the error so i opted to save space in the forum. Thanks  :)
