Removing Ramps from Above?
« on: June 27, 2010, 05:25:38 pm »

Hi,
Is it possible to remove up ramps from 1 Z-level higher then the ramp? I made a magma moat but, I forgot to remove the ramps in the channel after I dug it.

I don't think so.  Most likely your miner will go into the channel to remove the ramps and get stuck once the last ramp is removed.

heres what you do..

first take one or two ramps out.. then add a NOt magma safe homeade ramp b>C>r

then make your miners take out the other ramps, your miner will go up the man made ramp, then it will melt (i think >.>)

I think I heard somewhere that things like constructed walls are magma safe and I'm sure ramps fall into that category.  It's worth a shot but if it doesn't work he'll be stuck with that ramp.  It's purely aesthetic though.

Anything from b>C is magma-safe. You can put magma through wooden fortifications and over wooden ramps to your heart's delight and they won't melt or burn.

Someone told me that if you collapse some constructed floors on top of natural ramps, they will be destroyed. I haven't had a chance to try it yet though. You wanna use non-magma safe materials like wood so it vaporizes in the magma.

I dont know about normal ramps. But one built from the build menu should deconstruct if you cave something in on it.
