Craftsdwarf going insane
« on: September 16, 2006, 06:53:00 pm »

Ok, I know there is a thread for insanity, but I had a problem with a craftsdwarf. He got touched by a fae mood, then went out and picked up a single rock and hauled it to the craftdwarf's workshop. I check up on him a few minutes later and it says he started a construction. The detail says that he is working furiously so I'm happy and thinking that he will make a interesting artifact. However, two months later, he simply goes insane! I'm not sure why this is happening, is this a bug?

Additionally, his clothes are in the statue garden, laying on the ground, and he is now running around naked. But harmlessly, not even attacking any dwarves...

I've had that happen with a carpenter. He got a fey mood then just stood outside my fortress, not once moving. He went insane and eventually died on that one spot.

If they just stand still (not inside a workshop), then you need to build them the right kind of workshop (see the wiki for more details).

If they're in the workshop, you need to check it periodically ('q') to see if they've got all the materials they need.
