Caged Seeds - WTF?

Yeah, well, my dwarves refuse to haul food; seeds, plants or meat to the food stockpiles, but they DO put seeds into cages in the animal stockpile.
... just look at the picture. This is so wrong.

And do tell me: What can I do to make this nonsense stop? How can I get them to haul food? How can I make them fill my food stockpiles instead of leaving the plants to rot on the fields, and the seeds caged in the wrong stockpile?

Were you taming some animals? That may be the leftovers from someone doing so.

Otherwise, I think you've got your stockpiles screwed up somehow.

Checked their settings, re-made them, ensured accessibility...I have no idea why they don't work.

The thing about animal taming makes sense though.

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

Thats what the wooden structural part of cacti are called.

This.

If you were feeding an herbivore or other creature that eats plants, it will leave seeds in the cages.

Can't remember if it has been fixed yet, but if they don't haul the seeds to the stockpile then you have to build the cages and mark the seeds for dumping to get them out.

The main problem at this point isn't the seeds in the cages, but the seeds and plants and meat everywhere else that isn't going to the stockpiles...

Although maybe the problems are related. I'll be building some cages.

Heavens, I didn't even know such an option existed!

I'll have to make my caffeine consumption less erratic, those jittery spikes and jumpy fingertips are causing trouble.
