A thought about magic
« on: December 02, 2007, 01:47:00 pm »

Do you think it would be cool to have the Armok I magic system? At least, teleport body part.. that was the best spell ever. It'd be great to be able to teleport weapons out of the hands of enemies and so on, too. That'd show those elite bowmen... *teleports bow out of hands* *teleports brain into a volcano*

I think that a lot of this has been thought over, and will probably get put in.

Magic's planned, but it's in the far future.  Hopefully when it finally gets put in it will be more fully fleshed out than it is in Armok I (though Winston's Last Miscast *is* fun and highly profitable to use).

I found all the 'target body part' ones to be super fun. Although the body was more detailed in that, you could target their jugular and specific veins and stuff. Turning someone's veins to stone one by one was the best.

I always enjoyed the magic system from IVAN. In that game, all magic was of the divine variety - you prayed to a god of the desired portfolio, and would be either rewarded or punished depending upon your earlier behavior. The effects were powerful and unpredictable, just as magic should be - careless use often had devastating consequences.

Whatever is implemented in the future, I'm sure it will turn out fine.
