As of now, there are 87 pumps spanning 69 z-levels with three dozen gear assemblies powered by 29 waterwheels.
The previous ruler had about 8-9 pumps already installed.
The rest were made with painstaking calculations and dwarf labor.

note: now that I've turned off the pumps, the pumpstack is starting to fall apart. I think I might've accidentally mixed in a few wooden corkscrews. Im gonna let the magma settle down a bit before proceeding further

Ah, the sweet redness of magma... I wonder what kind of insane traps will future players use it in?
By the way, how did you get that dwarf in the cage? You didn't by any chance reload my cave-in trap, did you?

i think he got struck by a goblin ambush bolt or something and got knocked unconcious.
Those gobbos were pretty smart in the sense that only two out of some 15 raiders got caught in the cage traps. The rest just encamped my fort while shooting arrows everywhere.

shouldn't take too long now.
Quoting my previous statement, I now realize that the only reason my fps went up was because another pump broke down, thus disconnecting the entire chain of pumps :(. Well anyways, just leaving a notice to future EH players that the magma pump stack is still quite faulty and may very likely break apart somewhere else in the near future. There is also the potential of magma flooding the entire underground caverns, although the possibilities of such a travesty happening should be fairly unlikely.

Hm, but if a pump in the middle breaks up, how can it still transfer power to bottommost pumps so they can flood caverns?...

there are ways my friend. (aka design flaws where I forgot to put in certain failsafes, but who needs those?)
Oh and the moment I turn on the magma pumps, my fps crashes down to 2-3...

In theory though, if I leave the magma pumps on and close the floodgates, it should build up pressure which should blast out into everything.

Oh and I just noticed that half the bedrooms are situated right underneath the magma pool. Imagine sleeping under a pit of red bloody death every night knowing that even a single miner screw-up would completely destroy you, your room, your friend's rooms, and the rest of your massive fort house.

Wrong. Actually, the floodgates are the best way to stop pumps without meddling with power supply.
