Do purifiers still work in DF2010? do they still use screwpumps? Does anyone have some designs?

Yes you can still purify salt water using screwpumps.  I did it in my first 2010 fort.

Just pump some water into a constructed cistern.  It isn't really something with a set design.  It's good to have a store of water anyway.

I like to put a big tank of water above ground level at the second or third highest levels of my fort.  (Roof is for windmills).  This way, I can use gravity to quickly and easily put water anywhere else when I decide I need a well somewhere.

I built a fort under an ocean in .08 and used diffusion with diagonal tiles to build a cistern. I didn't pave or construct everything and the walls and floors were all red sand and my dwarves drank out of the well.

Huh, I wonder if that's a bug, because I think in an earlier version that was proved not to work.
