What're you guys' experiences with war animals? My war tiger didn't last long against hammergoblins, but my war giant lion seems to be having some success:

"The war Giant Lion scratches The Rhesus Macaque in the lower body and the severed part sails off in an arc!"

Lawec:
Two words: War elephants.

leftycook:
war animals are for suckers, just have a bridge over a pit of tame giant desert scorpions for your invaders to fall into. For bonus points, make it less a pit and more a labrynth.

bonus bonus points and special commendation if the scorpions aren't tame

Heavenfall:
+1 point if there's a minotaur roaming the labyrinth

My experience with war animals is that they're good cannon fodder, but not worth the FPS loss.
As for levels of awesome, well... you can't get much more awesome than dwarves living side by side with fucking grizzly bears.
