I like the use of realistic textures for the rocks, this could wind up looking really cool!  I'll try firing the current version up when I get home tonight.

Here's an idea: Option to toggle between basic game colors for stones and realistic stone textures.  Some people design constructions based on those colors.

This is long overdue, really. What happened to the guy who used to make Visual Fortress?

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

Spoiler: A granite staircase (click to show/hide)

You should consider looking into adding an anisotropic filtering option; that sampling error on oblique faces really detracts from some otherwise excellent texture choices.

I think it would be nice to have 2 toggles, ASCII symbols on/off, and realistic/game colors on/off. Would be nice to have, though I don't know how well the ASCII symbols would work with realistic textures.

I'll see if that works.

I guess you could move it there, but since 3dwarf the 3D vis programs have always been posted on the general discussion board so I dont think its a problem.

The door really makes me chuckle.

Kind of looks like Wolfenstein 3d graphics right now...
