New fort, enemy riders!

in my latest fort, goblins have arrived with a siege.

Only now, While watching them, plotting my marksdwarves slaughter of a bunch of purply goblins,

They brought a CAVE SWALLOW.

lame.

And then the hammerman rides it right over my magnificent walls!

Whatever shall I do?

Build a roof, or start recruiting!
Hammers, though powerful, don't kill very quickly in most cases, so sending a bunch of recruits to bog him down will most likely result in success as he gets beaten and broken and exhausted by being dogpiled by dwarves. The injuries are no laughing matter, but a few splints and some beds should keep people from dying after the battle.

I now remember the purpose of bridge-based defences!(I also had a bridge with no mechanism on it the goblins could storm right over, but I took care of that with a little deconstruction)

Also, a kobold walked right in and busted my door-based defences wide open >.<
Goblins killed my mule-based guards.
I suddenly remember the purpose of bridge-based defences!
(also, my main entrance had no lever on it or anything.)

okay, so how do I get my hunter to pick up some damn bolts?


I like, couldn't have any more bolts laying around if I made more.
