You grow prehensile roots, and the ability to ear flesh! Yes, RAW POWER! Truly you are a deadly weapon of nature. You crawl over the adventure corpse... You consume it for 150 XP! Then you set your mind to devious plotting... who shall be your next victim? You try to set out in search of fools who would underestimate the power of the bush! You go several feet before you realize that it is night. A while away you spot some green mushrooms. An elf with a basket is picking them. Each time he puts one in the basket, a kobold behind him silently removes it and puts it in his own bag. You admire the kobold's cleverness.

Engulf the kobold silently.  If we go for the elf first, the kobold will be alerted to our presence and we'll end up with what might be a difficult free-for-all.

Besides, elves will want to protect the "environment"--i.e., us.

You consider improving your prehensile roots in the future, for now lying in wait. In fact, you're pretty sure you can't rely on eating anything that isn't dead yet. In the morning a gardener comes with shears, pruning plants as he goes... uh oh! He's looking at you! What do you do?
