Illegal immigrants

Thought it'd be funny if every once in a while a migrating vagrant comes along, steals food/items from your stockpiles, and generally makes a nuisance of him/herself without doing any actual work.Actually, never mind- I just described nobles.But it would be interesting if you could have seasonal migrant workers...or dwarves that came/left after a year or two. Or, as opposed to a beating, another dwarven justice punishment could be banishment from the fort.

In essence, it'd just be great if you could get dwarves to immigrate AWAY (emmigrate?) from the fortress. THAT'd be the best way to control populations.

Markham:
That would be interesting, like if you neglect mining for a while, some of your lesser miners might leave to find a less established fortress to work at.  Heroes might be a challenge to hold on to if they decide to go off "questing," though it'd be cool to have a low-rank Dwarf go after a Kobold or Goblin snatcher that leaves the map and returns a few months later either successful and immediately recognized as a hero, or full of bad failure thoughts.  The missing Dwarf and all his/her friends, spouse (who could have previously had a "longing" thought) and children could get really good reunited thoughts, too.Ooh, there could be the "tragic hero" too, like if the Dwarf returns successful, but finds that family killed, or their spouse left them for dead and remarried.[ December 06, 2007: Message edited by: Markham ]
