It's downloaded. I'm guessing I shouldn't make my character until Planepacked is actually created then?

It's created and all set up.
it just that a small bug is causeing some problems when joining it.
I've talked with one of devs and am getting a email the first thing when the bug is fixed. so sit tight explore another empire if you wish.

Edit: Also due to a fluke in the login system there are currntly two of me logged in so lets hope the citizens are not starveing to death

Been reading the manual... Oh the wonderful things you can do to sabotage a ship's systems...

 If there is a way to sneak onto enemy ships, I might... oh just might, consider subterfuge.

If I click 'create empire' and then click the 'create race' button it won't actually create an empire right? I just want to see if I can fiddle with a race modifier or something.

Been playing for a couple hours (32bit runs fine on Win-x64). I think Planepacked isn't on the list because a "capitol" hasn't been built yet; this is understandable, as it requires quite a bit of work building the tech-tree up to that point (you need electronics for one thing).

I would consider that a bug; it'd make a pretty lousy "feature."

I've started my own empire, but I hope to join Planepacked when it's possible, either by outright joining or starting a new character.

Overall impression so far: fun, interface needs a bit of work (might help if I dug out a mouse... laptop), HUGE potential

Looks fun so i Downloaded it. However my race and the ground do not appear when i play the game . Race creator does not show race as well. Any ideas?

Yes you can still join but you have to type the Empire name in the empire select dropbox

I'm getting a CTD before I actually start.

Also, I can't see my race when I'm in the create a character thing.  The room is empty.

Update video drivers

else rename the /sfx folder inside the game folder(turning off sound)

Updating drivers worked, now there's no ground and I have poor framerate.  Whatever, I'll try again once my desktop is back in action.
