Two titans, two silver bolts.
« on: July 30, 2010, 10:52:16 am »

Teling Udarmunest Rithlutnanges, a great one-eyed sauropod. It has thin wings of stretched skin and it has an austere look about it. Beware its webs!

This beast invaded my fort, only to be slain by a single ({silver bolt}) I had looted from the goblins. The bolt landed in his heart, got stuck and tore a major artery in the heart. It bled heavily before dying eight squares away.

"Whew", I thought. "I got lucky!"

Then a while later...

Urus Numatrid Udarmadush Kogan, an enormous blob composed of water. It has a broad shell and it has an austere look about it. Beware its webs!

"Oh shi- an invincible titan!"

Then I saw something fly toward it, a silver bolt, from my ramparts, and it vanished.

"Wha? Where'd it go?"

I checked the units list, and its body is gone.

Holy crap. Holy crap.

Yes. Clearly a bug that ought to be fixed in the future, but exploit it in the meantime.

Perhaps you have a legendary or these titens might have been rubish.

When a creature dies, its wounds are always listed as "His upper body is gone," regardless of the actual damage. Which is pretty surprising the first time you see it!

The water titan, when it died, just vanished. It was gone. Like a popped soap bubble.

I'm not sure if water, when an item, does.

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.
Ashes are technically fire-safe.

There is a bug where water doesn't leave mud, so it could be that.

Anyways, if it was the same silver bolt, thats just amazing.

Last night I had a Cyclops destroy my entire military (only 10 dwarves) by slowly beating them to death with its bear hands, only to walk into a weapon trap and be decapitated...  Sometimes they are a little underwhelming.  :D

Yeah, titan/FB blobs disintegrate in one good hit.

First one was luck, second was the usual.

Dwarven.

In other news; you're one lucky man, a marksdwarf getting two one-hit kills on two separate titans IS miraculous. I suppose you could explain it away, in terms of real-world mythology, as silver being super-effective, or ultimately necessary, in defeating certain monsters.

It was actually two different marksdwarves.

It really does depend on the creature. Some are absurdly deadly, especially the ones with deadly dust or exuding deadly poisons, but  some can be one hit killed. It fun charging your militia at them and finding out.
