Underground Windmills
« on: August 02, 2010, 10:43:42 pm »

Are they possible? With 10 z level high caverns, I'm sure there's some kind of wind, but do they work in caverns? I'm currently doing a fully underground fortress cut off from the surface, and it doesn't look like there'll be any way to produce power...

In 40d, the center tile of the windmill had to be Outside. I have no reason to expect 0.31 to behave any differently.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

You could try water power, have manually pumped water in an upper reservoir flow down.
