good idea. the sandtrout wouldn't have been able to access it, so that's very possible. on another topic, does anyone know how to make a reaction produce alcohol? I can't seem to find the tag.

It should be possible to make a reaction that can turn anything organic into water. it may need separate reactions for animal and plant though.

Do you have water behaving like booze just with a different name or is it actual water being stored in a barrel?

I've tested it all and it's pretty easy to make the caverns act like reservoirs. the only issue is that they should be rare and everywhere will have them if you dig down.

I have heard that it is possible to mod stone so that you cannot dig through it while leaving soil and softer rock alone. this would mean that the fremen would only be able to dig through rock on the surface without being able to mine down to get to the water. I'm not sure what it would do to the sites created in world gen though.

Do you have an early version with fremen modded in? i don't want to have to go through the long proccess of gutting another version just to test something basic.

Well, maybe you could take advantage of that mod, so that they cannot dig down into the caverns, and then increase the number of caves, so that cavern access was still possible, but rare?

That's what i'm thinking.

From what i remember of the book though they didn't live very deep down anyway.

I'll try modding stone and removing everything but dwarves and see if they still survive.

I experimented with all the world gen and unmineable rocks and it turned out really well.

The fremen towns are located on the border between desert and mountain. by removing all non yellow sand you can make a world that looks just like dune.

The mining limits worked really well making it impossible to get access to the underground reservoirs without embarking on top of a cave.


I can send you all the files if you want eagle. If you want i can help you build the actual mod as well i've got experience with most things. I don't want to impose though so just let me know if you want to do it alone.

It happens. I just started a LotR mod (there's a link in my sig, shameless self-plug), and one of the first changes I made spawned a world entirely devoid of life.
