And yes, I use blocks for constructing structures, not normal stone or bars.  Why?  Because once you make a bar a block it serves no possible purpose other than construction: it has been 'consumed' from use, effectively raising the cost of the structure even if the difference is negligible in actual value.

I hate to tell you this, but it's possible to convert blocks back into stone or bars. It involves magma and block bins, and I haven't tried it personally - just read about it.
Nope, urban legend. That doesn't actually work.

The wiki is notoriously inaccurate on subjects at the cutting edge, frequently reflecting passing memes, folklore, or the word on the street instead of true dwarven science.

You know things like "Undergrotto" and 'Flarechannel" get a lot of press cause it is one fort that is monstrously massive.  But what you have done here is in a wholle different league.  You have gone above and beyond by filling a "world' withinteresting and wonderful aspects to explore.  The oly thing that makes me sad is that it is imossible to see how these buildings migth affect the world sicne you have to abandon one before starting another, and thus history only records 'settlment X abandoned"  Imagine if you could gen a new world with all of this physically there to see how the Dwarfs would build civilization with such a world full of temples, cities, towns and BIG walls.

Ask not what the Dwarfs can do for you...
But ask.... why are they drunk all the time?

I'm impressed!

I'd started doing something like this back in the early 31.whatever releases. Except with a world-spanning road instead of a wall.  I made it across three 2x8 embarks before the issues with reclaim got too frustrating.  (It took three or four reclaims each site to have enough stone blocks to finish.)

Again, nice work!

My goodness...

How much time in real life it took for this?

The golden age of DF rivalry, creating Adventure worlds via Fort mode.  What amazes me, is that I'm not aware of any inventory editors that allow you to insta-spawn gold and other construction materials.

What persists in adventure mode?  Can you pull levers, and do logic gates like water repeaters and other relatively large-scale mechanisms work (compared to the single-tile buildable mechanisms.  What about caged or otherwise restrained animals?  Can you place items at specific locations, like hide a suit of armor at the end of a dungeon?

Basically, how much like a traditional RPG dungeon can this get?

I DO believe that this project is long since complete, given that it was last updated last October.  Very cool though!  You should try it yourself!

Hate to necro this thread for such a silly question, but I can't help myself... The walls the, uh wall, is made of look much better than the walls I make in Stonesense. They look cleaner... How do I get those kinds of walls?

Do you make your walls of blocks?

I do, yes, but in Stonesense they just appear to be slightly less chunkier than walls of rough stone.
