Seems like they'll be building from the ground up this time, unlike with Vicky 2 or HOI3 which are to an extent just the same game in different clothes.  These devs keep emphasizing that the focus of the game is interpersonal relationships, the survival of one's dynasty, etc - rather than pure world conquering.  One would think that unusual approach wants a similarly unusual engine.

I hope so, anyway.

It's probably the last game on the Clausewitz engine, which is what HoI3 and V2, not to mention EU3, used.



I say probably in that there might be another game after this on this engine, not in that I don't know if Ck2 is on the Clausewitz. I do know, and it is.

just got a very nice and courteous email informing me that I was not selected for the CK2 beta. Excellent company. Will buy at release now.

I wasn't selected either :(.

But! I was told that previewers would be getting the game soon (technically, they should have gotten it already if the person that told me this was right). I'll report back about it once I get it!

There have been a few more live streams. The CK2 forums have a few links up. For example.

Really looking forward to this, would give an arm for beta for sure. Maybe it's because I've been reading a lot of Song of Ice and Fire, perhaps, and I'd love to see a mod for this.

It should do so automatically when you select a location if you have the gold.

I've been playing this since a few weeks (I've got beta access without NDA restrictions) and I must say this is going to be the best Paradox release yet. They're doing a great job here.
