Im a little upset about this because Ive been jailing and humiliating my brother, the next best canidate for the position. My second son is fat and trash and I gave him a duchy already.

My the father, known for some time as 'The terrible' let his brother out of jail for the first time in almost 20 years. The guys responds by getting a concubine and having a baby, then plotting to kill me. I scoffed and thought 'as if he could muster anything', but sure enough, a snake tried to mate with me in bed.
Now, as if you couldn't see this coming, the 58 year old brother is on the throne, and its looking like his grandson will sit based on the court opinions. Shame too, because his new son has potential to be amazing.
A bigger shame is that my direct line lost its hold (though you could argue that it merely skipped over to the brother), gavelkind has made of mess of the balance of power, and I feel a sense of disconnect because of it all. Its just a mush, and I need 2 more wars on pommerania to take that holy island.
