An anti-pope is simply someone who has a claim on the papacy.  I think it's a duke level title.

Anti-popes annoy me greatly. Not only do they give a massive penalty to moral authority which gives rise to heresy, but they also seem to be bugged right now so that there's no way to end the anti-papacy short of banishing them. This inevitably results in eternal wars to revoke the anti-pope waged on any poor fool dumb enough to set one up.

Can't you just attack the anti-pope suzerain?

No, it's a bug. Anti-popes don't get deposed (depoped?) on plowing a anti-pope-depose war.

Is the anti-papacy inheritable? If not, I guess you can just kill them.

Let's put it this way: if the pope manages to have kids, when the pope dies, they'll be anti-popes.

Unless they fixed that bug.

Yeah, I've got that, so now there's a line of Antipopes in Rome, who I can't get rid of without declaring war on The Papacy.

Did you actually manage to kill it? I managed to find it twice, and twice my character let it go. I wonder if traits like kind of wroth have an effect on the result.

What does it do?
200 prestige, removes the 'the white stag eludes me...' modifier, and depending on if you let it go or kill it you can get the 'hunter' lifestyle thingy. It also gives you the title 'the hunter'

And no, I didn't kill it. I plan to get a different lifestyle thing. Or I DID, but the game isn't letting me build an observatory for some reason.

Also, question: Is it possible to make an army automatically go after vikings? There's so fucking many constantly raiding me and sending my army after them is getting tiring.

consider keeping your demesne levies raised near the ocean to run them off. Even if they have a prohibitively larger army, if you ambush them when they land you'll destroy them.

Most of the time I just ignore the vikings. Short of attacking their provinces, they'll just keep coming.

In addition to destroying buildings, letting raiders seize the holding also has a 5% chance of destroying the holding entirely, if there are less than four buildings and it's not the capital.  That can hurt, so I don't recommend letting raiders sit if they're big enough to siege successfully.  Unfortunately, I don't know any easy way to stop raiders from coming off the top of my head.

The trick to catching them is to raise a levy in province that they are in. The battle ties them up for enough time for your main army to arrive.

You probably won't have to deal with vikings there, so maybe ditch England for it?
