Hello, Bay 12 Forumers!
I first heard about Dwarf Fortress through my friend, who urged me to give the game a try. 
This was about a year or so ago, and I was pretty much immediately put off by the rather steep learning curve. 
I put down the game, and came back about a month ago, when my friend offered to guide me through it, and introduced me to the Mayday Green tileset.
So!  I'm here, about a month later, and absolutely addicted to the game, though I still get pretty flustered with figuring things out on occasion.
I thought I'd introduce myself, and  I hope that eventually I'll become a part of the community and come to learn from everyone.
