You heard the subject line, folks. We're playing the classic World of Greyhawk module by Gary Gygax, The Temple of Elemental Evil!

No no no, this is the 21st century, and we have a more demanding taste in RPG entertainment these days! We don't want to sit around at a game table, and argue bitterly with our friends over the next logical course of action. No, we want to tell some schmuck on the internet to play the game how we want, and have the adventuring party take the most inane, sociopathic, and radical route to glory! We want to command our puppets to dance, from the safety of our laptops and computer desks. Behold!

There we go. So first things first; we need to create an adventuring party! In order to do that we first need to choose the party's Alignment. The sets us off on our starting quest, and influences how our party is viewed by, and interacts with the world. More importantly, it decides what alignments our party members can have, and thus whether or not we'll be indulging in acts of selfless heroism, or a country-wide bloodbath. Every member of the party has to be within one step of the Party Alignment, so choose wisely!

Also, we need Adventurers. We can have up to 6 party members at a time, plus any familiars or animal companions they may have. This is going to be an Ironman run, so there'll be permanent character death, no loading up old saves, and I've never played this before so I have no idea what we might be running into. Needless to say, we'll be cycling through would-be Adventurers pretty regularly! :D

Oh, and remember that your character's Alignment can only be one step different than the Party Alignment.

I vote true neutral party so everyone in the team doesn't give a sh*t. Oh wait that would be quite boring. Well I think neutral evil would be fun. I would like chaotic evil sorcerer human who likes to set things on fire. Name? Um... Nero?

Nero would be a druid that elects his animal companion to the senate. I would totally run a neutral evil campaign too. Make a Barbarian Druid, Dwarf Barbarian Druid.

This looks fun. Can I request that the party be neutral evil and that I get a character that is a lawful evil gnome cleric?

Chaotic Neutral, because all adventurers are, when you get down to it.

Hmm. Can I has battlefield control wizard?

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

Do you have the Circle of Eight fan patch? It's pretty crucial.

Also, Chaotic Neutral sounds good, but Paladins can become absolute beasts in this game. Of course, so can fighters.

Neutral Evil.

Also I'd like a True Neutral Halfling Monk.

Dude, dual wielding Rogue/Ranger. SO MANY SNEAK ATTACKS.

EDIT:

Gimme a Male Human Fighter named Cormac with 8 Cha and as high STR and CON as possible.

...

Charisma doesn't really matter in this game unless you're a bard or a sorcerer.

Introduction:
Doing a Gods' Work

Our tale begins one evening, at the entrance to a sinister-looking temple. Open braziers burn along the steps, illuminating black and red pennants bearing the symbol of Hextor, god of War and Tyrany. It's an overcast night, and scattered raindrops fall into the flames with sharp pops and hisses. A squat figure stands at the edge of the firelight, a faded green hood concealing his face. He seems to be waiting for something. Waiting, and getting irritated about it.

The creak of old wooden doors sounds behind him. Removing his hood, the figure turns to see a dark-robed figure standing in the now open doorway.

Master Dwarf, the High Priest will see you now.
It's about ruttin' time you came back. I'm near soaked to the bone.
Pardon, but what was that? I couldn't hear you over all this rain. And this fine, waterproof hood isn't exactly helping my Listen Checks.
  *grumbles* Oh, it's nothing.

The dwarf follows the Hextorian Acolyte into the Temple. They travel through dark passageways, and into a large, star-shaped chamber, stained with the blood of ritual combat.

My lord, may I present Lassiter Highrock, the... Last Grape Bunny Hunter?
That's 'Last Great Bounty Hunter' you half-deaf bastard!
Silence yourself, Dwarf. We have a mission for you. One of grave importance to Hextor himself! We require that you seek out the sword Fragarach, and destroy it.
Fragarach? What kind of name is...
Fragerach! The single most powerful Chaotic Good sword in all Oerth! It has been missing for years now, and we had assumed it lost forever, but alas, we have forseen its return.
So, you're hunting for an artifact? Where exactly have you forseen it returning, then?
The sword's location is still shrouded in mystery, but we are sending scouting parties far and wide across the Flanaess to find it. Your task is to seek out the monk Turuko at the Inn of the Welcome Wench in Hommlet.
Okay, so if I contact this monk, then he'll know where to find it?
Turuko may have more information, and you must give him the sword if you find it. Although it's unlikely to be found in such a place, we must follow every lead.
I don't like all these maybes, but on my honor, if there's a Fragarach to be found, I'll find it. So long as I'm getting payed, that is.
Ah yes... I take it you found our offer suitable?
Aye. 200 Gold now, for travel arrangements and equipment, and I'll collect the rest when I'm done sword-hunting.
Here you are then. Turuko will cover the rest after you've finished reporting to him. Do not disappoint us. Acolytes, escort the Dwarf from the Sanctum... and someone freshen up these bloodstains!
Lets go. May Hextor show you his favor in seeking Fraggle-Rock, Master Dwarf.
Aye, and your mother was a doozer.
What in the Hells is a doozer?
Nevermind, it was before your time. Off to Hommlet, then!
