Character:
Name: Frederick XXII
Description: He is tall, thin, and wears his shoulder-length red hair in a ponytail. He is a narcissist.
Backstory: Frederick had been nearly ready to graduate and leave the academy. He believed himself invincible, and didn't bother double-checking his last shielding spell before practicing new words. Thanks to a distraction involving a puppy, a plate of potatoes, and an apprentice in a funny hat, he horribly fumbled his Nil|ols-fa|ta spell. When next he awoke, he had the worst hangover of his life, and couldn't remember what he'd spent the last several months studying.
A normal man would be discouraged by this, but he is determined to re-learn what he should already know.

You think there will be enough material in the thread for that to be interesting?

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

If nobody is told what anyone else does...
Yeah, research will mean the turn summary just says "(character) locks him/herself in a room to study" Adventures will have a bit more text, but it will still leave out any details about what they found.

Everyone now has their spells. Sharing is allowed... but due to the nature of magic, giving away knowledge means giving away yourself. The more you tell the others the more effective their spells will be against you. so you had better not make any enemies...

You have all just graduated as full-fledged mages, and the Academy will be kicking you out in 2 turns. After that you will need to find a more permanent residence.

This better apply globally... If not it means nothing!

Does this imply that we'll need to find a new lab to continue our studies? Or is studying magic effects simple enough to let us do it out in the woods? (Where the chances of blowing someone up are minimal).

Anyway I would say it's a good idea to go and see if we can find out anything about the surrounding lands and other opportunities for residence, no?
