DF will never be ported to the iPhone / iPod because, hardware issues notwithstanding, it's part of the Apple Developer Agreement that any applications for those platforms be written entirely within Objective-C, and I don't think Toady's in any mood to dick with the entire codebase for a platform that won't be able to run the smallest sites at 5fps for 20 minutes before the battery dies.

And terminal apps probably violate the Apple Developer schtick too. The closest I think you're allowed to get is writing a web-page exclusive app that's essentially just an Obj-C mini-browser and then have the server that website is on stream DF to a page or something. Which is impractical as shit.

uh, jailbreak? duh?

of course, that isn't the biggest problem.

I demand an explanation and a video.

At the same time.

Preferably related to the screenshots in the OP...  I don't want a dissertation on macro-economics in post-WWI sub-Saharan Africa accompanied by a Rick Roll...

If we get that, though, I think it will be safe to assume this isn't real.

But maybe we can program some kind of utility which controls dwarf fortress so that you can start df on a normal computer and control it with an Iphone/Ipad.

This is almost certainly not real. I mean... Apple are so restrictive with development on the iphone that it is a joke.

However it may be possible to port DF to the Nokia N900 fairly easily. It already runs a version of Debian Linux so compiling DF for it shouldn't be hard. The only thing that would need changing would be the interface, since it lacks some of the special keys needed for DF such as the F-Keys, < and >. Oh, and it would run at about 2 fps.

Guys look, I am running DF on my Gameboy Color. It gets -4 fps.

I made this in a minute in a half. See how easy this stuff is?

It's a bit too clear, though. I remember the GBC's color fidelity wasn't all too good. You should lower the contrast a bit so it looks more faded?

Would have been a better shoop if it was an original GB with its unique, beautiful color of monochrome.

And the image should be more pixelated. Shrink it to the correct resolution for a GBC screen, adjust the contrast as mentioned, possibly give it a faint reflection of a light source over the image...

Also, the evident pixels on the edge don't work, so lightly blur the border between the GBC and the background image.

For the original .xcf (GIMP file format), here.

I was just trying to show that something similar to the OP could be done in a short amount of time with MS PAINT. The gameboy qwertyuiopas did was epic.
