Quite right! Water is in fact minerals.

So when you say "I would like a glass of water", what you should really say is "WE REQUIRE MORE MINERALS".

It only counts as a mineral if its in solid form. So you have to swallow slushies at best, blocks of ice at worst.

Sure is.  A significant contributor to the surface geology of Titan even.

The real night creature haunting DF may be the pigeonhole principle...

It may not be necessary, but I decided to give everybody a full dose of the juice until I could get a closer look at it.

Ah, what makes a chemical a nutrient vs a mineral?

I was making a play on words of a different (geological vs dietary biology) definition of mineral.
The actual geological definition is as follows; "a naturally occurring, inorganic*, solid, crystalline substance which has a fixed structure and a chemical composition which is either fixed or which may vary within certain defined limits."
*(inorganic as in not-currently-living in the this case, not "lacking carbon;" calcium carbonate qualifies as a mineral but contains carbon and is produced by living organisms)

Water qualifies as a mineral under this definition, but only as long as it is solid.

Apparently dietary minerals are defined as "Minerals are those elements on the earth and in foods that our bodies need to develop and function normally. Those essential for health include calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chloride, magnesium, iron, zinc, iodine, chromium, copper, fluoride, molybdenum, manganese, and selenium."

So they literally don't care what original form it takes as long as it's metabolizable? So totally different heh. Looks like they're referring to metals and metaloids mostly, so water being hydrogen and oxygen probably doesn't count as a mineral, no.

Ah, what makes a chemical a nutrient vs a mineral?
Nutrition is the difference between nutrient and mineral
The building blocks and proteins and the useful things in general
I know some humans disagree and eat a few things questionable
From spoiled fish to flower leaves and other things until they're full.
Some are well acquainted too with foods entomological
It all goes somewhere left unsaid, such matters scatalogical
And so to gather fats and proteins, carbs and things delectable
Nutrition is the difference between nutrient and mineral

Makes sense, I was wondering chemical wise. Thank you

I'm pretty sure they're just reciting a song... I mean, dietary calcium is considered a mineral, but it has nutritional value.

...I'm not actually sure what the specific split is.
