Delve Deeper. I had to watch, and it looks like someone played our dear DF, and got inspired thematically. A little too similar for my tastes.

Are you actually serious about this part?

It's a multiplayer 2d combat/resource collection game, based on the trailer. It's action-turn-based (not pseudo-turn or 'real time'). The only connections I can draw between this and DF are the following.

• It takes place in a mine with stuff, kind of like an abandoned fortress.
• It involves dwarves.
• It involves nasty beasties like dragons and goblins, etc.
• There is a map maker.
• The main goal is get rich or die trying.

I'm really not seeing it. None of these scream "DF" to me. Sure it might be DF inspired but it's not like it's a pseudo-3D pseudo-real-time fortress construction/ecological devastation sim or... whatever adventurer mode is now.

Also it might be better if you moved this to Other Games.

I read a book the other day by this... Tolking hack. HE WAS TOTALLY COPYING TOADY LIKE OMG. HE HAD DWARFS WHO DRANK BEER AND DUG MINES.

Now that I'm done ridiculing the OP, I'd like to say that the similarities are probably coincidental. And the similarities also appear to be genre wide, so, yeah.  Not really a knock-off of DF.

I don't know why, but I was much more interested in another game being advertised on that page, called "Blade Kitten". I think I should mod something like that now.

A more refined Miner Dig Deep is what I'm getting from the trailer. Not that Miner Dig Deep is bad or shoddy, it's just very focused and simple.

Doesn't look all the bad.  I suspect the dwarf are heavily inspired by the lost vikings though.

There are people that probably though of dwarfs digging holes in the ground a long time ago, but for the sake of Dwarf Fortress, its a completely original idea.

I hear theres this game called Dwarf fortress.  Its basically a rip-off of Tolkien's old ideas.

As far as I know, Toady didn't come up with the concept of dwarves, digging, or monsters. In fact I believe Toady said somewhere that his inspiration for DF was based on the Mines of Moria, among other fantasy ideas.
