A question of flight.

This may seem obvious, and if so I apologise, but, if give my Dwarfs the [FLIER] tag, will they actually use the ability to fly? Or will they just walk as usual?

I think that the modding forum will give better responses, however AFAIK  they will walk if possible.  or something.  I cannot remember, but I have heard that it doesnt behave as expected.

That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

They'll get pathing errors if you try to get them to fly. Or swim, for that matter.

Flying and swimming races don't actually manage to path very well. They just wander around in their element until they by chance leave it, roughly speaking.
