Swimmerdwarf stuck on island
« on: March 11, 2008, 10:58:00 pm »

Didn't see this posted or in the list:

One of my dwarfs is a no-adjective swimmer, and as such was chosen for the project of building an artificial island in the aquifer in an underground rec park. I observed, however, that he finished and was on the island and became stranded there. Both the islands shore and the regular shore are up\down ramps, but he won't cross the water.

He actually swam to get to the island, choosing it as the shore to go to when he finished one of the upramps on the mainland.

Addendum: I just had a handful of dwarves drown *after* getting out of the water.

Dwarves won't path through water deeper than 3/7th (except to escape).

And a lot of drownings technically kill on land: the lungs fill with water, then the unfortunate is brought to land by a rescuer or by sheer force of will before expiring.

I doubt Toady coded it that way, but when a code unintentionally is better than intended, it's not a bug, it's a ghost.
