Magma Forges

There appears to be no option for a magma forge in my workshop menu. How do you make one?

The option should be unlocked when you discover magma.  If you used a hack to create or reveal magma, the workshops may not be enabled.

This is the reason I always start next to a volcano.

Unless you're really wierdly into pump stacks (And no offense to those who are, of course), it's so much less hassle to just start with easily accessible magma nearby.

It also removes the 'fun' from trying to get to magma. :D

I'm watching the Genesis adventures on Youtube, and the poster found magma around floor 50 I think. I started a game where the main floor is around 100... (Yeah yeah, way up there...).

I'm digging down as much as I can but I found a huge cavern with now a few Forgotten beasts stirring inside, and I have no military :D.

So it'll be 'fun' to try and get there.

Although I'm sure that even with magma on start, there is plenty of 'fun' left!

:D

My ground floor is z-level 141, and I had to dig down to z-level -5 to get to the magma sea.  Good luck! :)

Shoot, I've hit magma as high as z-level 40...in my case it was due to the magma pipes jutting up in to the third cavern layer.  The sea itself is usually down around -90 at a minimum.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

I've been building in the 3rd cavern layer.  Plenty of space, plenty of mud, plenty of random fun.

Especially since traders will climb my long winding stairs now.

!!Elves!! would actually be kinda cool as a civ symbol.  !!Clowns!!, however, you get the impression they're on fire of their own free, malicious, evil, will.

Also, much scarier if literally clowns.
