Dwarf Fortress Affecting Life
« on: September 27, 2010, 09:53:35 am »

I used to say Narp (as in no) a lot. Now I don't due to rhyming with carp.
Everything is measured in z-levels.

You guys have anything interesting?

I look at crowded hallways and think of the fps loss.

I wonder why they don't flood Pakistan with magma. It would turn the flood into obsidian!

Dear Armok... this would even help their economic situation!  Obsidian is worth something.  CALL THE PRESIDENT/PM/WHAT HAVE YOU THIS MUST BE DONE!

Except, lava floods can actually happen IRL.  Usually it's just a volcano who's off switch is broken. (yes, they can and do happen, fortunately they're rare enough you only get one every few hundred thousand years, and those are the small end - a few cubic miles.)

Most of central Siberia is on top of ancient lava floods.  Yes, a million square miles.  It's quite something.

A friend of mine who enjoys fishing and has a number of photos of himself posing with some extremely large carp now believes I'm quite entirely mad.

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

I measure everything in Urists. Except height, that I measure in z-levels.

Or maybe there's a god who's just completely insane and sends you to Detroit, Michigan in a new body if you ever utter the name "Pat Sajak".

So I'm in a blacksmithing/armoring "club" thing as an activity at college because of DF... AND THE GUY WHO RUNS IT LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING DWARF.  Seriously, he's short (literally under 5'), muscular, has an epic beard, and loves alcohol.  I've taken to calling him Urist McMastersmith under my breath, because first time I said it out loud he looked at me weird.

I was pleased at acquiring a new hat. It has a sheep on it in wool.

Dwarven blood types are not A, B, AB, O but Ale, Wine, Beer, Rum, Whisky and so forth.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.
