I've had issues with embarks crashing into Hell in the new version, too.  Although in mine, somehow there was no magma sea, and no semi-molten rock.

Could someone do SCIENCE by changing that slade into rock using DFHack and then mine it out?
what utility lets u do that?

As of the newest version, just remove the "[UNDIGGABLE]" tag from the raws.  Prior to that you could tweak its hardness or something.  I forget which number; but lowering it would make it diggable.

I got a world like that.  First embark I had a slade mountain 2000+ z levels tall.   It lagged if I looked at it, and got worse the higher i got.  eventually it got so bad i had to force quit DF.  While trying to find that spot again, I ran into a bunch of other weird things.  Mini-spires that went to the top of the map, which was only about 25 levels high.  After mining out a level they seemed to be supported from above, but again, the lag got too bad and I had to quit.  Also had spots with exposed hell or semi-molten rock.   My favorite though, was the magma lava sea at ground level, so the world flooded itself.

And here's the save:

I don't remember any sites particular, but most of them occurred around rivers.  Also, it was genned in 31.13.  I made it with no caverns, and no erosion, which might be what caused it.  Deep rivers + shallow earth = FUN

Alright, we need to start genning worlds with no Caverns, and no Erosion. WE MUST CONTINUE THIS EPICNESS.

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

That may not be necessary...

I genned a world with Caverns & what not where, AFAICT, none of the Volcanos showing on the Region Map show on the Local Map.

The one I embarked on in search of a volcano (8x8, 'cos 16x16 was crashing & I just wanted to know where the volcano was for a smaller embark) was nearly 1/4 Magma sea (@ ~= -90z), & another 1/4... Eerie Glowing Rock (@ ~= -101z).

I didn't notice any Clownite though.

Code inside spoilers does not work well, it is a bad idea. Also, I am jealous that I have never gotten Slade mountains or Adamantine spires...

Another thing you could do is remove the [DEEP_SURFACE] tag from slade and put it somewhere else, like a vein in igneous extrusive rock or something and put that tag under a diggable mineral, like....puddingstone or something silly.

Once you do that, hell and demonic fortresses should be made of puddingstone. At least in theory.

bonus points are awarded for making raw adamantine a sedimentary layer

With nigh-infinite Adamantine, the Elves do not stand a chance against the All-Powerful Dwarven Empire!

To be honest, i'd be more worried that EVERYONE would have it.

Except the elves, obviously, but still, i'm kind of cringing thinking about hundred goblin/human sieges all wearing the stuff.

Well, they only make stuff out of copper, occasionally iron, so I doubt they would be lunging at the opportunity. And if you have it too, even if they did it would hardly be an issue.

Have you ever put same material weapons/armor against each other? Unless your weapons' quality is significantly higher than their armor's quality you're pretty much beating them with a training weapon.

But yeah, i suppose i should have figured they wouldn't be able to use it even if they embarked on top of it, because they always use iron and copper and i highly doubt they never ever embarked in a place with cassiterite or flux before.
