Magma mountains?
« on: October 07, 2010, 10:00:32 pm »

I just embarked to a seemingly normal area but arrived in Crazyland.  There are enormous magma mountains... not volcanoes - mountains made of magma and molten rock, which are slumping down now and flowing all over the landscape now that I've started the clock.  It's like Salvador Dali designed a df map.  They run upwards nearly two thousand z-levels and are tipped with spires of adamantine.  (Though I may not actually be able to see their peaks, I can't go past level 1804.)  And btw no volcano was visible on the world map when I chose this location.

So of course the game is basically frozen, running at something like one frame per minute... it's too bad, it would have been interesting to see whether my dwarves could escape the magma tsunami apocalypse.

You want them to escape?

sounds like a new twist to the adamantine spire quirk (not using 'bug' as I don't consider the spire itself to be a problem ... just the FPS of doom maps that include them tend to have ;)).

Hmmm...get your dwarves to dig into the ground immediately below them, haul in a handful of PH seeds, then wall it off.  Attempt to survive underneath the magma sea.  ;D

Also upload a visualizer shot of this holyland

That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

Upload a map to the DFMA.

Here are some screen shots but how do you export a map of a fortress that's running?

So now scattered clods of sandy loam have appeared near the peaks...

please tell us you have an inital save!

If this map is as truely epic as it appears... well,

the space elevator was epic...  but

The obvious way to make anything "more awsome" is to just add magma.

and you have managed to do exactly that.

WOW! Ok ok no worries Auto here's what you need to do:

Go to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ And sign up, whole process and all.

Next, Go to [Your DF File]/data/save and find the appropriate region folder your save is in.

Compress that folder to a zip file

go back to http://dffd.wimbli.com/, log in, upload your zipped file, and rejoice, for you just contributed to all of Dwarf Fortress.
