There's a Dwarf on a road
all Adamantine and cold
And she's carving a ‼stairway‼ to heaven

When she gets there she knows
It's Economy:NO
With no coins she'll still get royal bedrooms

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
And she's carving a ‼stairway‼ to heaven

There's a (d)-(s)mooth on the wall
But she wants to cave more
'Cause you know sometimes pipes have
Some holes in them

On a pick by the brook
There's a wambler who sings
Sometimes all of our walls are
Undiggable

Ooh, it's Armok's ‼wonder‼

Ooh, it's Armok's ‼wonder‼

There's lots of lag that I see
When I look to the FPS
And my spirit is crying
For a better comp.

In the thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke make dorfs happy
And the alerts of those
Who stand looking

Ooh, it's Armok's ‼wonder‼

Ooh, a burning Armok's ‼wonder‼

And it's whispered that soon
If we all call the Migrants
Then the Overseer will lead us
To treason.

And a new year will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will
Echo with digging sounds

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, ooh, whoa, oh

If there's a wambler in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now
It's just a vermin
For the FPS sink.

Yes, there are two roads you can go build
But in the long run
There's still time to change
The menu you're on

And it's Armok's ‼wonder‼

Aw, uh, oh

Your CPU is humming and it won't go
In case you don't know
The NO2's calling you to join him

Dear ‼dwarf‼, can you hear the fan blow?
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the spire-thing?

(Solo)

And as we wind on down the menu
Our wrists're taller than our soul
There walks a ‼dwarf‼ we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to Magma.
And if your CPU runs hard
The truth will come to you at last
When Z's are infinite, unending
To carve a rock and not a tree.

And she's carving a ‼stairway‼
To heaven...

I was listening to the original when I read that.

...

All you have to do now is replace the word "Heaven" with !!ARMOK!!

I added liberal ‼'s. Yes, I actually dug up the unicode character for it. It's U+203C for any interested.

I think this random anomaly would be hard to track let alone get rid of without doing major game altering changes to the way the game generates maps. This type of random unintended factor gives the feeling that the game will always have a trick or two up its sleeve at different ways that it can surprise us.

I was thinking more along the lines of this legendary champion, all clad in dented and dinged up steel plate, his blood-drenched axe slung over his back, a notch in the handle for every enemy that saw the swing of that blade as the last sight they ever saw, a battered shield strapped over his arm... and a fluffy, pink stuffed hippo hidden discretely in his breastplate.

Now, if only we could convince IBM's CEO to play Dwarf Fortress and upload this save onto some super-computer...

Am I... your fire?
We're all... on fire.
Believe when I say:
inverse volcanoes are great.

But we're all two worlds apart;
exploding into dwarf parts
Embarked in a world of flames.
Inverse volcanoes are great.

"!!Gonna die!!"
Ain't nothin' but a flesh ache.
"!!Gonna die!!"
Ain't nothin' but a game break.
"!!Gonna die!!"
I never wanna hear you say...
"!!Inverse volcanoes are great!!"

Engraved on the monitor is an exceptionally designed image of FPS in Dwarf Fortress and it's multicore support by Toady. Toady is raising the multicore. The artwork relates to the masterful multicore support by Toady for the Dwarf Fortress in midwinter of 2010. Toady is surrounded by dwarves. The dwarves are rejoicing.

RAW_ADAMANTINE : 216163

Ahaha what? at 2000 z-levels to the map there would have to be an AVERAGE of 108 adamantine PER LEVEL. Are the top few Z-levels literally filled with adamantine or something? I can't load it because my PC sucks...

Posting to note that this is yet another amazing site which I will never see run on my own monitor.

We must all be wary of any more of these glitched sites, and try to find one that NASA could call child's play to run at 100FPS

This shares with the Adamantine Space Elevator the characteristic of having a scrambled netherworld.  The semi-molten rock layer has large openings not guarded bhy adamantine plugs.  Some sections are even open to caverns.  Also, although I could only go up to 1645, I saw chunks of loam terrain suspended in mid-air around multiple adamantine spires.  I suspect that part of the slowness is because that stuff is falling 1600+ levels.

I have defined a mega-stockpile and a small meeting zone on the only stable-looking ground, which is in the lower right.  Although I technically have 0 FPS, the Dwarves are very, very slowly moving.

I suspect that it would be a bad idea to dig underground, at least for a while, and perhaps ever.
