I have another confession to make...

I read...

fanfiction. oh gods you can kill me now
depends, what fanfiction?
Varies, actually.

If it belongs to a fandom I'm a part of (meaning I know what the christ is going on, canon-wise) and the writer's decent, I'll read it.

The problem with fanfiction is that 99% of all of it is so laughably bad that it makes me want to shit my brains out.

It's either pr0nz or wish fulfillment.

I want fanfiction to be wish fulfillment for me so hard but I've tried, I've really tried. I've even read some of the pr0nz, written by people who are probably virgins.

I understand your trouble.

So.. a virgin's work is inferior to a non-virgin's work?

In relation to pr0nz, usually yes.

I am trying to keep this less R-rated because of the GD rules but typically people who have not done it and are writing pr0nz do not fully understand one or more fundamental principles of doing it. Not always true, though.

*shrug*

I write fanfiction and argue about fandom in sociological contexts.  Of course, I don't write much and it's mostly getting in practice for bigger challenges later, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Wish fulfillment... hahaha

Apparently I want everyone to go crazy and be miserable

I can't do fanfiction.
I can't stand using characters with preexisting backstories/personalities etc.
Nor can I stand writing anything in a universe not of my own creation

That's how I write, mostly.

I'm quite a sadistic bastard when it comes to writing xD

Anyways, I don't know why, but I feel so bad for reading that stuff.

Eh, for me, it's practice writing about emotional manipulation without getting dragged through the coals emotionally as I would if I were using my own characters.  When I use someone else's, I don't have to accept the same amount of damage and attachment, and I can improve my technique without feeling like I'm ruining my ideas...

I've only ever written fanfiction as a satire/parody pastiche of bad fanfiction.

For me, I'm sadistic because I usually start my characters off as idealistic/naive and such, and I desire to foist upon them the worst possible situations and see how they recover from said situations.

Or not.

Heheheheh.

Heh, someday I might be able to write up a character without a disturbed past.

I read a large amount of the Homestuck fanfiction over at Archive of Our Own.
Yes, that includes the Homesmut.

I gave fanfiction a go, but I really hate being bound to how a character acts. I mostly write my own stuff as it's 20 times more fun X3

New guilty pleasure, plushies. Love 'em, so soft and huggable  X3
