I have no guilty pleasures, I freely admit what I like to anyone who cares to ask. I feel no guilt! >.> Though that might just be attributed to haveing no shame, but eh, details.

Somebody needs to build an active volcano inside a fortress inside an active volcano.
I still very much intend to fulfill this one day. I shall, I just hope I'll be able to dredge this link back up when I do.

I suppose I have an odd liking to waiting for time to pass while traveling. I suppose I've had to wait for so many things for such long periods of time that I have grown used to it, so not really caring that I'm wasting time waiting has become a habit and perhaps even a pleasure.

I guess you could say mine is liking things that aren't exactly age appropriate, like children's shows or games. But I don't neccessarily feel guilty about it.

And, The Sims 3...

Also, candy.

Also, Janet. I keep forgetting how incredibly awesome she is.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

If I understand you and your analogy now, and I think I do, it's that "friends" on the Internet are inherently less genuine than friends in person, not because they don't exist or anything, but because they don't have your best interests in mind, to put the whole thing in stark terms.  Aside from how hilarious it is to posit that people who interact with you in person are inherently more honestly friendly than people who can only write messages, I think you're forgetting that not everyone online is as spiteful and antagonistic as you admit to taking a guilty pleasure in being.

You're still not getting it. Have you been on Battle.net? Not the internet. You can have friends on the internet. But on a 'hardcore' RTS matchmaking client. I'd get banned just for posting logs of the sort of "conversations" which occur there. Like every two minutes a new 14 year old snot who thinks 4chan is the coolest thing since YouTube decides to do his nazi impersonation. Then every teenager who recently learned pornographic terms experiment in new and creative ways to curse with them. Its hell. Its a boiling cauldron of feces. You do not make friends there.

I contest this. I will admit, a fair portion of the population of battle.net is raving morons. I try and play a nice game of Anime Trivia and oftentimes I end up with nothing but a bunch of Narutards (No offense to anyone that lkes the anime, I mean in the sense it's their only known anime), or people that don't even know what anime is, or people that join just to say "WEEABOS SUCK!!" and then leave promptly. I can't teach 99% of the people that join my Touhou Arena matches a thing because they're too stupid to read a few lines of text and learn the directions taught therein. And for the love of god don't get me started on Type Moon Arena, the day I teach anyone to play that map pigs will fly. HOWEVER. Amongst all these morons and idiots I couldn't care less about there are quite a few cool people, people that can out-argue me (Which while not a major accomplishment, it would require a normal IQ and a dash of common sense if I know what I'm talking about), people I can hold discussions on anime with, people that are genuinely fun to hang out with.  Of course, it seems you're talking mostly about the melee circuit which could easily have a much higher moron concentration, I can't be sure. I prefer UMS myself.

Honestly you can make friends everywhere. Unless you're Nikov. In which case you make friends nowhere because 14 year old boys exist apparently. Mew~

It isn't any less possible to make friends on Battle.net.  You just have to wade through more retards.  Play custom games, it's not quite as bad (Still bad, but not quite)

It's worse if you play DOTA games >.> But other than that it isn't THAT much harder than the rest of the internet.

It's odd how people find cracking your knuckles, or your neck, or anything else really, disturbing.

Well, I guess people do get weirded out by my ability to crack pretty much every single joint in my body, including one side of my jaw, and several vertabrae. All at the same time. You guys should really my ankle go at it.

You try and tell yourself you don't care what other people think, but you reach the point where you have to admit you do.
This is exactly why I have a meta-personality who says "Damn, you're overthinking this, dude".  Basically, most of the people who judge me badly aren't the kindof people I want to be friends with anyway.

I believe you've misunderstood me. It is not that I think you cannot have friends on the internet, but that you cannot have friends in certain corners of it anymore than you can frolic in the waves with sharks while bleeding. All the little bumps and nudges by their snouts aren't really playful.
I'd say the same about certain acquiaintances of real life (especially sports "friends").

You guys creep me the fuck out.

I really must start to protest this now. This forum is not the place to talk about your fetishes.
You see a thread titled "Guilty Pleasures" and are then surprised to find sexual stuff within?

As for the Yuri Gagarin joke, I'm pretty sure that was made immediately after the term was coined.  Or possibly even at the same time.
