That's a mighty interesting spot in only 2x2!  If the pools wait for summer to dry up, you can drain a couple into a cistern before they do.  I've done this and it works just fine.

Here is a 2x2 that has some options:  

You can choose to have either an aboveground river and magma/adamantine/flux, or a chasm, magma, adamantine, flux or a bunch of other options in a generally great area.  

lots of animals too

a herd of 10 gazelle is right by my fort entrance, mountain goats, warthogs, hoary marmots, no dangerous fish, only lungfish

LOTS of interesting things too, iron man, troglodytes, cave spiders, cave swallowman, stuff like that, but also pretty safe because they're decently far away from the spot i picked.

Here's a shot of it, with prospector turned on, hope nobody minds =/

I have *NO* idea how to get the seed # though ... let me know if this is what you're looking for and how to get the seed and it is yours!

That looks like a nice seed. To get the seed number, open world_gen_param-region1.txt in your DF folder. It should have the seed in it.

I noticed that it removed my selection cursor but

that's easy enough to get around, the area in question is in the TOP LEFT tile of the World map, the very last one up there and to the left, little yellow tree icon.  

If you can't find it let me know and I'll post a screenshot guide

I have a possible 2x2 with adamantine, magma, iron, flux, fuel, and soil.
Configured as 2x2 this way water is unavailable (though 3x2 would include the river), and trees are rather sparse however you cut it.
Note you'll have to cut off the bottom and right sides of the pictured 3x3 area. The seed and a download of the world are on the wiki: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Pregenerated#Emeecamo_Ametha.2C_The_Eternal_Universe_of_Wind

178748540 gave me a slightly different one - running core 2 duo/vista might be the issue, are you running 33g?

Oh well, maybe if someone can upload to megaupload or verify if its just my computer - that would be appreciated.

Yes, I'm running 33g, but i *think* the world might have been genned in 33f, would that cause problems?

yeah, world gen seeds got reset in version 33g, no big i'll gen it under 33f.

Thanks for letting me know. We should save it and rar it up somewhere and post to wiki, one of the better seeds I've seen minus flux
