Controlling screw pumps potency
« on: October 18, 2010, 03:27:43 pm »

We should be able to decide how much energy would a screw pump use, with gear assemblies, to control the rate of water it moves. This could be used to control drowning pits or constructed waterfalls, or to operate a pump with less than 10 power available.

Would it be a setting or would the water teleport more often whenever the level of power crosses a certain threshold? I assume manual operation would provide the bare minimum.

Pumps operate too fast as is. You can actually create a tidal wave in a narrow corridor with an Archimedes' screw of all things.  :P

I think it has more to do with the water physics than the screw pump. A 10x10x1 cubic dwarf pond should not take a few days to drain out a dwarf-sized hole.
