As far as I know, all FBs are magmasafe and amphibic.
So, all drowning(water)/smelting (lava) traps are going to fail.
Not sure about the magmasafe though, and encasing works always, just keep in mind to make a really epic stature of of your obsidified monster.

unless the water or magma trap slams them into a wall with flow...
