I think I just cooked the least food food I've seen in... years. Microwaved boil-in-bag rice, with dried ground beef. Stirring the "beef" around made a noise that sounded exactly like rubber. Tastes alright, though. Probably has more to do with the noodle seasoning and added teriyaki sauce, but regardless it's amazing inoffensive considering what it is.

Still, I think I've finally figured out the secret to ye' old cafeteria hamburgers of bare edibility. Damn things are cut with plant stuff, which explains basically everything. Bastard heresy against meat is a deformed hybrid of burger and veggie burger, lacking the advantages of either.

...My gma would literally mix corn flakes into hamburger patties.  I really liked it...  Maybe it just tasted familiar.  I've never been a fan of beef though, hamburger (AKA heavily processed and surrounded with seasoning and bread) was the one exception.

Your grandmother also probably used quality cereal and better meat too.

Ive always been a firm believer that you get what you pay for.  The scams and logos and trademarks aside, you get what you pay for.  When a product comes with 'but wait there's more' bargains, theres a reason for it.

And Ive recently become much more aware of exactly how much money a retailer can make off their product.  50% is often considered light for some places, and how much do you think $300 jeans cost to make; and the labor of selling them is what?

Oh, adding a binding agent is one thing. I do that too. What I'm talking about is 30-50% cereals, and an appreciable fraction lardish stuff. Technically more than half of it might have come from an animal, but the texture and the taste are about as closely related to a pure patty as a piece of mud's are to a piece of Lindt chocolate.

What's nasty about oatmeal? You can do a lot with oatmeal. Usually I go for the fairly stand honey or sugar, but salt is apparently a thing, too. Evidently something I should do more of given where I come from, but ah well.

Re: cutting meat with things: I can't eat high quality sausages because I grew up on the UK sausages, which are cut with various things that probably shouldn't be eaten.

You know, I have never eaten fruitloops. It is one of those things that I would like to do if I visited America, I imagine they taste rather nice.

Never was much for breakfast, however. Coffee, tobacco, perhaps some olives and a tile of crispbread is about as advanced as it gets.

fruit loops, at least the name brand stuff, is actually not shabby.  Its a treat, and if you eat it about as often as you wouldd have a slice of cake or candy it would be fine.

the off-brand stuff, fruiti-oh, sweet circles, rainbow-Os, parrot circles, or whatever other cheesy name, on the other hand, give honest hardworking cereals a bad name
