For the lights on the router, put some semi-transparent sticky tape over them. (Only the lights.) That way, you can still see if they are on, but they are not too bright. That is what my dad does.

Water isn't particularly abundant in space.

O_o

That is both accurate and inaccurate at the same time. It still feels weird to hear though.

given the apparent water to not-water ratio of space, i'd say it's dead-on accurate

It is. It is accurate in terms of space (which so I am not misrepresenting hector13, is what he meant) as in the immediate mile around you while in space.

Yet I've also heard people bring it up in terms of "Earth is the only source of water in the Solar System!" where there are plenty of other sources. So it is inaccurate in terms of space.

Though oddly enough Uranium wise, that would be accurate and accurate.

Water is, like, the third most common thing in the solar system, and more common things are all in the Sun.

Not a thing, but it is a space. And most of that space has not-a-thing in it, so you could pretty much say that all things that are things are pretty rare.

Most things are also mostly made of space. But because of quantum, most space contains very low levels of thing.

If vacuum has light in it doesn't it have energy in it

Well, yes, but energy, by definition, is not matter, and matter is the 'things' of which we speak.

Heh, now I am wondering how much energy / radiation a cube of vacuum can contain before some of it is transformed into matter through interaction.
I mean, is there such a thing as maximum energy density, or is it infinite?

We call them explosions.

Im not sciency enough to know the answer, but I would argue that any idea of a big bang should give you an idea of what happens.
That and osmosis from concentration to dispersion.

I dunno. It seems obvious to me that light is something, and therefore vacuum cannot be nothing.

Outer space is an even higher-quality vacuum, with the equivalent of just a few hydrogen atoms per cubic meter on average.[5] According to modern understanding, even if all matter could be removed from a volume, it would still not be "empty" due to vacuum fluctuations, dark energy, transiting gamma rays, cosmic rays, neutrinos, and other phenomena in quantum physics

Wikipedia has us covered.

Also, if you want a daily dose of existential dread, here is a bit about "Vacuum collapsing"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_vacuum#Vacuum_metastability_event
Quote
The possibility that we are living in a false vacuum has never been a cheering one to contemplate. Vacuum decay is the ultimate ecological catastrophe; in the new vacuum there are new constants of nature; after vacuum decay, not only is life as we know it impossible, so is chemistry as we know it. However, one could always draw stoic comfort from the possibility that perhaps in the course of time the new vacuum would sustain, if not life as we know it, at least some structures capable of knowing joy. This possibility has now been eliminated.

I think saying there's not much water in space is more a hold over from around 30 years ago when really the only known water sources in space were as ice. When people say water in this context I would assume they mean running water like a river or ocean. Ice on the moon or Europa didn't really count as it's liquid water people associate with potential for life.
