hmmm, i realize that i don't think many people know how to abacus.  odd that such a persistent toy is so prominent but under-utilized

I do recall some toy abacuses (abacusi?) when I was a child.
It's not that uncommon, or at least not back then.

And now I remember that time when my younger brother threw a wooden one at me (I apparently surprized him when walking into his room, and he just flinged it at me.).
Got a big gash on the top of my head, lots of blood. Fun times.
