One of my IRL friends, who I shall not name here, plays Roblox. And he's 15. I'll probably end the friendship.
Is that such great a sin?

I get it that you're in the part of your life where you want to look "adult", but... adults, at least the ones without sticks up their backsides, enjoy plenty of of "kid stuff". Let the lad have his Roblox.

^ This.

One line from a particular kids show review read "I think one of the funniest things about growing up is that you will allow yourself to watch things you wouldn't be caught dead watching when you were a (late) teenager". Which is so true. There's a lot of quality media that you'll watch as a kid, or as an adult, but wouldn't be caught dead with in the teenage years.

Caring about stuff having to be perceived as "grown up" is the most surefire sign that someone isn't done growing up. Actual grown ups don't watch "grown up stuff" they watch whatever they want and DGAF.

"One day, you will be old enough to read fairy tales again."

C.S. Lewis. Possibly not the exact quote.

You guys are taking a joke about Roblox being a shitty game way too seriously.

Adults come in all flavors, and 6 that defines you as an adult, but what you do.

Do you take care of your family and provide value to them?
Do you plan for the future?
Do you recognize that some actions are not fit to perform towards people of equal stature?
Are you willing to admit that there are rules that you must obey, at least in the presence of the average person in your society?

Any of these could be phrased in such a way that being an adult means not doing their opposite. Then where would your puny ideology be? Witness the power of my semantics!

Adulthood is outward pedantry and denial mixed with hidden indulgence.

It's always astounding how popular the man is outside of Brazil. Here he's nowhere near as popular.

I dont think he´s popular per se. It´s just that his feel-good platitudes are particularily suited for a certain type of facebook image reposter  :P

I listened to one of his books in audio format. It was honestly quite dull, at least for me. But then again, I'm really, really bad at feeling good... So maybe that's it.

Also, God.

He writes some okay fiction and, from what I hear, is rather popular on the other portuguese-speaking countries. Here he tends to get a reaction not unlike ChairmanPoo's.

Kind of disgraceful that he's the most well-known brazilian author abroad when there are better ones around.
