I stay away from "proper" sleep meds, as I tend to regularly need some kind of sleep aid and sleeping pill resistance is a bit terrifying.

Instead I "just" take a combination of beta blockers and antipsychotics, to help the body relax while also squelching a bit of the chaotic it's-bedtime-time-to-think-about-a-million-bad-things-you've-done chatter.

I've grown slightly tolerant of the antipsychotics, as I no longer get the epiphany of "wow, I'm not thinking about anything!", but it does still help and I'm not reliant on them to fall asleep. I also take a fairly low dose, but higher dosages have an unfortunate tendency to give me restless leg, which is remarkably unhelpful if you're trying to relax and get some sleep.

If you use them very continuously (first gen antihistamines) you lose some of the sleep inducing effect too. Nothing like benzos, though.
Anyway, they do tend to have long half lifes so you can be wrecked in the morning if you dont count the hours and regulate the dosage.

I do find them better than benzodiazepines as far as my sleeping problems are concerned, for what it´s worth.

That´s why you get a stronger kick.
IIRC it has been described.

I tend to research my self-medicating habits you see :p   I have a pile of research articles and guidelines on sleep-aids from when I began my training and on call duty was wrecking my scheudle more than usual.

This one's diphenhydramine hydrochloride. Apparently a pretty common over-the-counter sleep aid that can cause minor psychological dependencies, but that's about it.

More commonly used as allergy medication, probably most famously "benadryl".

That shit knocks me out right quick, but only because I never actually use it.

Fun fact: Kubrick almost got arrested for espionage due to that film (at least, according to Kubrik). At the time, the B-52 was the hot new superweapon, and highly classified. The Air Force was shocked at the highly-accurate interior in the film, and tried to find Kubrick's source. Turned out the film crew just extrapolated from the B-29.

Or so they say...

In reality, Kubrick commissioned a crack team of mercenary infiltration specialists to document and retrieve the confidential military designs, just so he could lend extra authenticity to the film.

It's true, I read it somewhere.

It reminds me of the time that NASA hired Kubrik to film a fake moon landing. Of course his perfectionism was such that he forced them to film on location. That is a joke, for the record.

Is that a change in Twitter's privacy policy? I don't use Twitter, so I don't know.

Just a fun question, do you guys have states in your country that people make fun of? Like, here in Brazil, we have a state called "Acre" which is waaaaaaaaaaay to the west, it's so far that we say evolution haven't reached them yet, and so, they still have dinosaurs.

Yeah, there's plenty of information out there, but you don't need that information to form an opinion and then defend it to the death.
Hey, don't be like that. Your life never had any meaning in the first place!

We have Tasmania (if that little island even counts as a state!), the population of which consists almost entirely of two-headed, inbred mutants.

Here's an EFF article about it (from February) with some important context, I feel.  This isn't someone making a tweet then DMCA-ing you for embedding their public tweet, that would be weird.  This was someone tweeting a copyrighted photograph, a bunch of news agencies embedding the tweet to make use of the photograph, and the photographer challenging the news agencies (as well as the tweeter, I assume).

Also yay, old Skype finally stopped accepting logins at all ):  We might as well switch to discord I guess, since this is the same resource-gobbling-yet-arranged-for-mobile-devices UI.
