And yet, "oh no, the western media in the US is totally free and absolutely not under any powerful interest's control, no sir!"

Just to give an example of the media bias. BBC:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-42398814
"Venezuela crisis: Farmers struggle as people go hungry" ... no mention of drought.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-36319877
The article promises to take a "closer look" at what caused things including power outages in Venezuela, never mentions the drought/hydro-electricity issue. Mentions "socialist" a lot of times.

Al Jazeera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcIejufFFH8
"Venezuela’s farmers hit hard by harsh drought." ... but no, lets listen to BBC instead. The only problem is socialist bureaucracy, and that "drought" thing might as well not exist.

Business Insider: https://www.businessinsider.com/drought-floods-and-shortages-in-venezuela-2016-4
Quote
While Venezuela has seen shortages of a variety of basic consumer goods and medical products, recent drought-related shortages of water and electricity have added a level of severity to the country's economic and social crises.
...
Persistent drought conditions have forced down the water level at Guri dam, a massive facility in eastern Venezuela that supplies 60% of the country's energy and most of the energy used in Caracas, the nation's capital. Venezuela, which has the largest oil reserves in the world, is heavily reliant on hydropower for domestic energy.

You know the BBC has gone fucked when Business Insider is giving more in-depth analysis on a topic the BBC has promise to cover in depth.

A high-school friend once informed me that democracy is much better than communism, and didn't listen when I tried to explain that they're not equivalent.

BBC almost sounds like it could be one of those porn category acronyms like BBW. So "Th4DwArfY1 working the BBC" could mean

Heh, I don't know how i missed that, i think the wording threw me off. "working for that X" isn't wording they'd use here. "working that X" would be.

People are sufficiently vain, that if a "Clone-o-mat 9000 Personal Cloning Machine!" ever hit the market, people would damned sure be producing Mini-Me versions of themselves, just for the selfie opportunities.

And then when people fulfill whatever vain thing they wanted to do with their clones, there'd be a nation-wide outbreak of thrown-away clones; kicked out of homes, tossed into dumpsters, hunted for sport, and used for slave labor until they die from exhaustion. Almost overnight, a caste of second-class clone citizens springs into existence. Having been basically Xerox'd into existence under the table in such mass quantities that no governing agency in the world could hope to keep track of them all, they'd have no legal protection and would have to band together in shanty towns in desolate areas just to survive. The lucky clones that were not thrown away and still live with their progenitor, turn their noses up at the abandoned clones, abusing them like one-eyed charlies, despite knowing they could be next. The very lucky clones produces even further derivative clones of themselves, the copies making copies making copies, each successive one being born with more deformities than the last due to genetic copying errors piling up. The population of normal clones to non-clones becomes so skewed that noone even knows, and can't know for certain, who is a clone is who isn't anymore.

Forget self-clones, most people would be trying to snatch celebrity DNA. And then you end up with a massive surplus of George Clooney and Britney Spears clones thrown away.

I'm pretty sure I already watched that. Michael Bay directed it.

Doesn't help that a bunch of archived posts/pages and whatnot just straight up refuse to load in the new version, so you're forced to switch back to "old" Reddit just to see anything.

I hope they're tracking how many visitors just immediately switch to old Reddit upon viewing a page, so they realize how little the changes are appreciated.

I am suddenly reminded of Slashdot's dubious flirtation with changing their layout, and how nearly 100% of the user base basically told them "No. Fix it or we are leaving" because it was broken assed shit that could not handle arbitrary display sizes, would mangle viewing of posts, did not load half the time, etc.

Slashdot's justification was "But it looks so OOOOOLLLD!!",  and the refrain was "If it isn't broken, dont try to fix it.  You know what *IS* broken? UNICODE-- FIX THAT instead!"

Of course, they never fixed unicode support... But they did abandon their "Beta" UI layout project.
