Click here to get rid of Chrome.

j/k, but the new Chrome looks like it stole the tabs from old Firefox, which was accused of stealing from Chrome in the first place. New Firefox actually styles things much more in line with the Windows 10 look. In fact, it blends in better with Windows 10 styling that Edge does.

This is the same shit as Bing! ..

Microsoft DESPERATELY wants their offerings to gain traction.  However, they keep trying to force users into the paradigms that they (microsoft) think are the best, and ignore what the end users actually want.

Want to use a search engine to get results for a digital assistant like Cortana?  SURE-- BING ONLY!  (never mind that the cortana API can totally take data from google, duck-duck-go, and a number of others-- or at least, COULD until microsoft decided to "fix" that little oversight.)

Want to use the internet?  SURE!  We will set (and KEEP setting!) your default browser to Edge! (Because it is fantastic, you just need to accept that!  No, your insistence on using chrome or firefox instead is crazy talk You KNOW you want Edge, you just wont admit it!)

Oh yeah, we even preinstalled candy crush for you, along with facebook and a numer of other.

Sorry, but no.  Microsoft can go smoke an entire bag of dicks.

Huh? I use a legal copy of Win10 on my PC, and Windows has never switched the default browser back to Edge. For me, at least.

Thanks to a power outage in the middle of the night forcing me to restart my computer, Chrome updated itself. What is this ass-ugly design that also seems to try and pre-load every page it tries to auto-predict as I type the address? And how do I get rid of it?
I use Yandex, which is a Russian browser so similar to Chrome that Chrome extensions run on it. The design is nice and has last changed in 2014.

Opera is good enough for me.
I only use Chrome on mobile because it's part of the typical Android bloat that is difficult to uninstall, unless you're good at that sort of thing.

Yandex is based on Chromium, hence why it can run Chrome extensions.

I see Yandex as a pretty fishy company. You know all those free program installers which also install unrelated crap, like Yandex browser? Yeah, this feels a little bit off for me. Besides, they might be cooperating with Russian government when it comes to personal info of average people, even if they say that they're "pro-privacy".

Internet privacy is not really a concern for me (as long as it's the government). I mean, I'm not a terrorist. The government has no reason to use any of the information against me. Surveillance, by itself, is harmless.

There already were situations where people got arrested for posting offensive (To Russian Nationalists/Orthodox Church) content on Russian social media, so yeah, privacy is a concern of mine.

But what about your porn habits? What if thy use them to blackmail you somehow? Or what if the government decides you are a potential risk based on that post you made in an Ameripol thread?

The irony is that I'm pro surveillance, but I always comes to grips with the real use it could have instead of the ideal use I would like it to have.

I.e. I'm relative safe here because I never had revealed my secret identity to anyone but a single person over pm and DF is not something popular among the weakminded (in this context it means the narcoterrorists that rule my country). But people have been jailed for making outright criticism or even "inappropriate" comments and jokes in more popular forums, social media or even instant message and having the bad luck of going viral.

I would probably never say things like that (I keep most opinions to myself, despite my... opinions towards both of these groups).

Oh, and AmeriPol is none of my business. And what would the government have against me to blackmail me? I'm not a political activist. I keep all of my potentially rebellious thoughts to myself.

Here’s the thing. You shouldn’t have to keep your rebellious thoughts to yourself. You should feel perfectly comfortable saying something like “corporations shouldn’t have so much influence on politicians” without fearing retribution. Thankfully as of now that is the case, but as seen with Lordbaal’s example that can easily change with a new leader. If another Hitler/Mussolini/Stalin/Pol Pot/Chavez rose into power, he’d have all the infrastructure already in place to execute his plans with much more efficiency than dictators of the past.

Here's the thing. I don't want to express my thoughts even if I had the ability. I don't care in the slightest about activism.
