Haha it was a subtle snark for sure. Not even far enough to be passive aggressive.

But i’d have been pissed if I were in that situation. If you’ve gotta cancel, you cancel. But you don’t cancel after confirming.

That being said, “soft times” are silly. Rule 1, super busy people need rigid timelines. If it’s lunch, put forward an exact hour. You can be soft on when it happens from there, but they’ll usually suggest something else and it will go from that. Saying “i’m free all day” is an invitation to be ignored

She's a bartender, so she frequently works on Sundays. In the afternoons/evenings. And she's a student. So her day schedule is completely fucked and she either gets up around 9 AM or 2 PM depending on the day, and also meaning that her schedule is a heck of a lot more rigid than mine is (and this was the day *she* picked out as being one that works, as her folks are coming on the 20th, her defense is on the 21st, and her graduation is on the 22nd, and she had plans for today), whereas I just need like 15 minutes to set up the outside area so I can let her in the gate. So, yeah, I'm gonna say "you pick the time" in that sort of situation.

I didn't see it as particularly subtle, but then again I read passive-aggressiveness into a lot of things... Still a bit scarred from previous relationships/interactions.

Believe me, it might be a cultural thing, but i’ve found that even suggesting a completely impossible hour is more likely to get something than something nebulous.

She's the one who wants an opportunity to patch things up and apologize for handling things poorly, and is nervous about losing contact with me.

If she can't apply herself to find a time that works, that's entirely on her.

You’re completely bang on about that, but you have to be prepared in case that happens. I knew this one girl who wanted to take me sailing, but she had so many things going on in her life that she didn’t have time to do them all. When a conflict would inevitably arise and she had to choose between sailing and hanging out with her family or some other friend of hers, that would always be a higher priority. This dance of scheduling stuff and then cancelling went on for an entire year before she moved away to a different city, and thus we never went sailing.

Though I am disappointed, I’m not mad at her. This wasn’t a case of her never intending to go sailing and lying to me just to keep me on the hook. She was just a naive girl who didn’t understand that there isn’t enough time to do everything.

There is a great deal of naïvete here as well. Plus some amazingly poor impulse control. She almost double-booked our planned meetup in favor of going to the theater for Avengers while I was sitting next to her. She did remember after a few seconds though, so there's that.

She also managed to either forget I was there or be completely oblivious as to how sound travels a couple times that same evening, so that was fun too.

EDIT: In other news...

So, making dinner for myself tonight was a hysterical disaster. The fun part of having a stovetop that takes 20 minutes to boil water is that if you put it a bit too high for something, by the time it's heated up it will stay too hot for that thing for quite a while.

And then the burner will remain warm to the touch for hours afterwards, which is also nice.

And also the combination standard oven/microwave oven is on a shelf between two different electrical outlets. The cord cannot reach the bottom outlet, mere humans cannot reach the top outlet.

Juggling was also involved, what with having to take the stuff that was being stored inside the microwave out and putting it on the cutting board because that's the only part of the countertop that isn't taken up by my attempt to get the clean cutlery out of the dishwasher.

Eventually I managed to fry up a couple veggie burgers (they were on sale) on the bottom of the cooking pot because there's no frying pan, even though the one spatula has an extra-long blade and therefore can't handle anything with walls. I then proceeded to sit on the floor and eat dinner off my guitar case, because that's pretty much it for surfaces.

Did I mention that this apartment has a firehose instead of an extinguisher? Because that's apparently okay for smaller spaces, despite not being a good solution for either electrical or grease fires, which tend to be relatively common in domiciles?

Did I mention that the firehose holder was installed using zipties?

Oh yeah, and our building does recycling. Basic stuff, just sort things into paper/glass&metal/plastic packaging/food waste/regular waste.

There's space for two small bins under the sink. Choose wisely...

How does a quick drink after a meal out with the family always turn into over an hour of sitting in a club blasting some shit DJs obnoxious song selection?  >:(

Seriously, my dad said he wanted to stop by a nearby spot for a 'nightcap', which apparently means three or four drinks now, even though he knows I hate basically every drinking establishment on the planet and my brother's girlfriend, who was with us and was our designated driver, is sick with tonsilitis and gets tired fast as a result.

Feels like someone's pounded nails into my skull.

bars and clubs tend to get better when you drink a little.

I usually prefer quite hole-in-the-walls over loud bar/lounges, but I used to love clubs, sooo.....

We're talking "asked advice of her friends about what to do with her roommate/fuckbuddy because he was starting to act a little weird and that while she 'kinda wants to be in a relationship', she also 'kinda just wants to suck some dick', and that he had taken to giving her the silent treatment after each time she came home with new people".

Which is great fun to listen to when you've got romantic feelings for the person in question.

All these oglaf links are probably confusing our reptilian overlords that are secretly monitoring our browsing history.

"I'm not sure if this should be filed under porn or comedy.  On one hand they are usually using our Tor servers when they are looking for porn, and they are not right now.  But on the other hand these pictures include drawings of those fat sacks and that extra limb humans have and that's usually porn.  Hmm, Maybe they are getting wise to us and are trying to confuse our control algorithms."

Just saw GoT ending. It's an end I guess.. not the most anticipated if you asked me but not as horrid as people might think. I would have liked something more spicy or a twist ending were it was revealed the undead threat wasn't completely over or something, but meh... what should I know.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
